The People’s Car
Picture a warm summer day, the sun shining bright, with a perfect light breeze to keep the sandy beach just cool enough to walk on. As you take in the waves lapping at your toes, which wiggle happily in the shallow water, you turn to see your closest friends unloading their surf boards and a cooler. It’s the summer sometime in the 1960s, and you couldn’t be happier to be on a tour of the West Coast in your Voltswagen Beetle.

If you are a true classic car fan you want to do more than just talk about old cars– you want to take them on the road and drive them. When you are a collector car enthusiast getting behind the wheel of one of your classics and going on a road trip is a lot of fun, especially when your destination involves indulging your passion in vintage automobiles and trucks.
With the above in mind, if you want to have the automotive experience of a lifetime you should consider making the trek to Los Angeles to visit the Peterson Automotive Museum.
A Look at the Ford Model T
Henry Ford has gone down in history as one of the most influential industrialists the United States has ever known. Ford was born on July 30 of 1863 on a farm that was located right outside of Detroit, Michigan. Of course, Detroit went on to become the cradle of American auto making, and Henry Ford had a lot to do with that.
Among other things Ford is credited with taking the step that brought automobile ownership within reach of ordinary Americans. The first vehicle that he was able to offer to the auto buying public at an affordable price was the Ford Model T, which first came out in 1908.
The Yenko Camaro
The Camaro has long been associated with speed, power, and respect on the road, however, there was a time when it simply could not compete with the Ford Mustang and Plymouth Barracuda. At the time that the Camaro was first produced, General Motors had a limit which prevented using an engine larger than a 400 cubic inch V8, much unlike its competition, which had no such restriction.Things changed under Don Yenko, who understood that there was a market for more powerful cars, and so began the story of the Yenko Camero, a modified version of the famous car line, produced under Yenko Chevrolet.
Looking For A Car Show?
It’s time to mark your calendar! For those of you who like to plan ahead, flip to the end of February. One of the largest car shows and auto auctions in the United States will occur from February 24-26. As you can imagine, that is quite a limited amount of time to see everything, so don’t put it off! The self-proclaimed largest classic car show and auction on the East Coast, the Atlantic City Classic Car Show and Auction will take place as always at the Atlantic City Convention Center in-you guessed it- Atlantic City, New Jersey.This year, the folks in charge are expecting an impressive turn-out of over 60,000 enthusiasts and collectors, who will be able to “browse, buy, and admire” the collection. Over 1000 cars will be available for sale, and they will all be in one convenient location! As if that weren’t enough reason to go, Piece of the Past, Inc. will offer authentic historical and entertainment memorabilia before the autos begin each day. Looking for something to drive home? You could have a chance to win a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible Indy Pace Car. The car will be raffled off, and only 2,000 tickets will be available for sale- those are pretty good odds! Tickets are $100 each. The drawing is scheduled to be held on February 25 at the car show.
Chevy’s 10 Favorites
The actual date of the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet may have come and gone, but the folks at Chevy are still looking back on a century of success. Recently, they put together a list of their top 10 trucks of all time. Though they may not be classic cars, the truck has certainly shaped our culture in a way that brilliantly compliments the muscle cars and classic cars that have forged some of America’s most precious memories.

2012 Detroit Auto Show
Car lovers from miles around have been flocking to the Detroit Auto Show, which opened January 9th and will run until the 22nd at the COBO Center in Detroit, Michigan. The city of Detroit, aptly named the Motor City has a long history tied to the auto industry, and has held auto shows for over a century. However, at the beginning, the vehicles featured there were strictly regional. December 1907 saw the first Detroit Auto Show at Riverview Park following the formation of the Detroit Area Dealer Association during the same year. It all began with only 17 exhibitors, less than a third of today’s 60 exhibitors.
Building Your ‘Baby’
So you finally got that project car you have always wanted. Maybe you found it at a classic car auction, or maybe you just happened to spot it with a big “For Sale” sign in the windshield, and maybe it is a family heirloom of sorts, passed down for generations, each one putting its own personality into different aspects of the car. I think we all know the feeling of beginning a classic car restoration, or just about any small household project, and believing we have all the right tools until mid-fix, we realize it’s time for a run to the department store or local car garage…some of us even have a story or two about realizing that just as a mysterious fluid is leaking onto the freshly power-washed garage floor.
The 1970 GSX
As one of the Top 10 Muscle Cars of All Time, the Buick 1970 GSX has certainly carved its place in American motor history. In the years preceding this particular model, General Motors had limited itself to a 400 cid engine. However, by the time 1970 rolled around, the desire for a little more power under the hood was finally too much to bear, and GM lifted the limit. In the GSX, a GS 455 V-8 replaced the 400 cid V-8.

These cars have roaring engines, flashy good looks, and fresh paint jobs to boot. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then imagine what a video must be worth!
